About the show

Great Bad Movies is a love letter to our favorite kind of movies: Viceral, kinetic action movies that are willing to be larger than life. We put “bad” in the title, but really we mean “exagerated, usually on purpose.” The kind of movie that is willing to go big. Justin Lin, one of our favorite directors, put it this way in the Fast Five commentary:

“…I think a lot of people are saying, You can’t technically survive [a] 250 feet fall, and… I know that… Everyone knows that… But I think part of what makes this franchise fun and great is to try to do everything practically… But at the same time, push it. Push it, and embrace the ridiculousness of it.”

This podcast is a joyful embrace of the ridiculousness. We think that life is better when we get together and watch these movies. Now that the podcast has been around a while, we know we aren’t alone.

About Joe & Greg

At the end of high school, Joe and Greg met working at Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream in Bellingham, Washington. They quickly became best friends, eventually roommates, where they shared a common obsession of music and movies.

Then… They lost touch. For a really long time. This podcast chronicles the two of them catching up, doing what they always did: Joke around about a specific kind of great movie… The kinds that has some understandable (and often really funny) caveats. They quickly realized that all these years later not much has changed. In fact, the impact their friendship had years ago still shows in who they are today. In this show, they are finally having the conversation that needed to happen about your favorite movies.
